Maryland State Committee on Trauma: Mission Statement
The mission of the Maryland State Committee on Trauma is to support and promote the provision of world class care of trauma patients in this state. We strive to support Maryland as the premier model of trauma center and system integration and function. In accordance with the three pillars of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, this goal is achieved through active programs in Education, Advocacy and Quality Patient Care.

James (Jaime) Gannon MS, RN, CEN
James Gannon earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Towson University and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland. He began his nursing career at Sinai Hospital’s ER-7 in 2009. In 2012, Jaime joined the Maryland-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (MD-1 DMAT), providing medical and disaster support globally.
Afton Jamerson
Afton Jamerson has been the Trauma Program Manager at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center since July 2020. Her career in trauma began at Carilion Clinic Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric trauma center, in Roanoke, VA in 2014 as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department. There, Afton was a member of the Trauma Academy of nurses in which she exclusively cared for adult and pediatric trauma patients.
