MPSC is focused on addressing the systemic racism and the healthcare disparities that have led to the current state of medical mistrust among minority communities and a hesitancy to accept the COVID-19 vaccine.
On February 15th, MPSC President and CEO, Dr. Blair Eig and Dr. Nicole Rochester were interviewed on Maryland Public Television’s Direct Connection to discuss our recent outreach efforts related to vaccine acceptance and the work we will continue doing to combat healthcare inequities.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has advice on how to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
How to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning while staying warm
- Do not run generators inside. Keep them outdoors and at least 20 feet away from the home.
- Do not run a car inside a closed garage.
- Do not use a gas oven to heat a home.
- Do not burn anything in a stove or fireplace that is not vented.
- Install a battery-operated carbon monoxide detector.
- Have heating systems, water heaters, and another other appliances that operate on gas, oil or coal serviced once a year.

Maryland Distracted Driving Virtual Summit

The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s (MDOT MVA) Highway Safety Office, in partnership with DRIVE SMART Virginia, is excited to announce the first ever Maryland Distracted Driving Virtual Summit, to be held in April!
This virtual Summit is comprised of a series of 18 webinars, and each will require a separate registration. Speakers from across the country will be sharing their expertise in four different education tracks, including law enforcement, research/data, corporate/community strategies, and focused populations.
